The Future that wasn’t – Friday Foto Fiction

IMG_5628Kanhaiya took a deep breath. He had finally snuck in and was living his moment of borrowed glory. The son of a tea vendor, Kanhaiya had grown up with dreams of becoming a corporate hot-shot ever since he had heard President Kalam speak of following your dreams and had excelled in academics. He fiercely guarded his grandiose ideas and his father had looked on him as the only source of pride in his waning years.

When tragedy struck, he had felt the crumbling of a life built only on dreams and the practical necessity of becoming the sole breadwinner of his family. He had often seen the Sun Corp ( where he delivered tea daily) employees complain of the grind. Where Ashok (whose seat Kanhaiya occupied)  found the pinups a profound source of stress, Kanhaiya only saw a future beyond his reach.

A “Hey, you chaiwalla. Get out!” Crashed him back to reality.

    • So true. All of us complain so much about the work stress and the problems we face at the workplace. I always wondered how things would look like for someone who only dreams of having what we already do. Thanks for writing in.

    • Exactly. Grandma tales of “Appreciate what you have already” is a refrain most of us forget at times. Thanks mua for writing in. Appreciate it.
